Assessment for this course is designed to be flexible to best fit each student’s needs and schedule. You have a choice regarding the final product of your research. All students are required to complete a short project proposal. Your proposal should include:
· A literature review (introduction)
· A methods section that outlines your research question, any hypotheses you have, and how the data will be collected and analyzed.
After the proposal is approved by the instructor, you can start collecting and analyzing your data. Once you have results, you will prepare a short report and do a presentation of your choice. Your choices are:
· A poster presentation at a conference (e.g., UCUR, Festival of Excellence)
· A paper presentation (oral) at a conference (e.g., UCUR, CoNS Symposium)
Your report should have the following sections:
· Introduction/literature review (can be copied from the proposal unless your instructor tells you otherwise)
· Methods (can be copied from the proposal if nothing has changed – make sure to change to past tense)
· Results section describing the results of your analysis
· Discussion section explaining your results and drawing conclusions from them
· Conclusion section summarizing your findings and mentioning any directions for future research on your topic
