Instructor's policies on late assignments and/or makeup work

Late Policy

There are no make-ups for any assignment. You MUST be in class to get participation points.

All assignment deadlines are posted in Canvas as of the first day of class. Due dates can be found via the Canvas calendar, on the Syllabus page, on the
“Start Here” page in Canvas. A general outline of the semester is available at the end of this syllabus. As such, Late work is NOT accepted under ANY circumstances. It is recommended that you work ahead if you know you will be traveling, etc. All work can be submitted ahead of the due dates.

Both the professor and TA work diligently to return grades within 1 week of submission as we are cognizant of student’s expectations for timely review of their work. In this manner, students are asked to be mindful of meeting their deadlines for submission. Work MUST be uploaded, or completed, to/in Canvas for it to be graded, unless otherwise specified

Extra Credit

I will have a few guest speakers throughout the semester come and offer up industry information. It is recommended that you take notes on things you have learned or found interesting from the speaker. To earn up to 3 points extra credit, a 1-2 page paper, typed and double spaced, will need to be uploaded to Canvas by 11:59pm the day after the guest speaker presents. The write up should cover what the speaker discussed, how it related to course material and what you have learned, your overall impressions of the speaker and what was said, if the speaker should be invited back to speak to future classes (why/why not), and your most memorable take-away from the speaker.

Attendance Policy

Attendance/Participation

In-class participation
: Class participation is expected. The more prepared you are for class and engaged in the discussion, the more enjoyable and interesting the class will be.

Attendance
: While there are no points for attendance, I will take attendance on a daily basis. You have the opportunity to earn extra credit points throughout the semester for class attendance. *I will utilize the “Attendance” feature in Canvas to track attendance. Despite what Canvas will tell you, this does NOT impact your grade. The “count towards final grade” is toggled off, however a “grade” will still show in Canvas. I’ll make all final adjustments at the end of the semester.*
