The course begins with orientation activities that ensure students are prepared to engage successfully. Students complete an attendance quiz, a syllabus quiz, and participate in introductory discussions such as “Introduce Yourself” and “What, Why, & How: E-Portfolios.” They also submit an assignment reflecting on past experiences.
In the next phase, students turn to personal branding and self-marketing. Assignments include creating a personal branding statement and developing a self-marketing plan that highlights strengths, skills, and goals.
The course then emphasizes professional communication and networking. Students participate in an elevator pitch video discussion, reflect on the power of networking, and complete a LinkedIn and networking assignment to apply these concepts in real-world contexts.
As the semester continues, the focus shifts toward leadership development. Students engage in discussions on personality types and leadership, complete an interview-based assignment to explore leadership skills, and reflect on leadership behavior through class dialogue.
The latter part of the course centers on e-portfolio creation and professional identity building. Students draft an e-portfolio showcasing their interdisciplinary learning and values, engage in a discussion on embracing identity, and then revise and finalize their e-portfolio for presentation.
The course concludes with capstone presentations and reflection. Students present their e-portfolios to the class, reflect on the growth they have experienced throughout the semester, and complete a final course reflection assignment.
