Class attendance, personal preparation, quizzes, and participation in class activities are integral to the successful completion of Nursing 4322. A significant amount of learning will occur through pre-class preparation, participation in class activities, and collaboration with class members. It is essential for participants to have read the assigned material and to have completed the assignments to participate in meaningful discussion and learning. Active learning is enhanced through discussion and group activities. Thus, each student bears responsibility for contributing to group learning, with faculty as facilitator of learning.

Students are responsible for attending each class session and participating in group learning activities and discussions. Cell phones must be silenced before class; they disrupt students and faculty. If a student is found to be using a laptop computer for things that are not class-related, student will be asked to turn it OFF. Please respect the Instructor and fellow students when using electronics during class.

Worksheets or assignments will occur throughout the semester. You will have six worksheets that need to be handwritten and then submitted in Canvas. Check Canvas for due dates. You will have 3 ATI modules that will be due throughout the semester. The score you submit for the ATI’s will be the score you receive. You will also have HURST questions that will be due each week, 25 questions per week. Check on Canvas for the subject material.

Assignments will be graded within 1 week of the due date.

Professional baccalaureate nurses are responsible for their clients' current knowledge of the various trends and issues facing postpartum clients and their families. Family nursing care is evolving in response to societal changes and consumer demands. The nuclear family is no longer the predominant family structure, creating a need for nurses to understand current trends that impact the immediate patient in their care and the family and family function in general.

Directions:

  1. Each group will be assigned to do a presentation centered on the discharge teaching needs of the postpartum client, professional apparel.
  2. Research current evidence related to the topic and utilize your ATI book.
  3. Develop a presentation for the postpartum client, including one self-care measure with necessary teaching.
  4. Utilize various techniques for presentation (handout, pamphlet, speaking, visual aid, or formal teaching plan). Creativity encouraged. Handouts must be student-created, not material copied from the internet or hospital.
  5. Make a presentation tailored to the postpartum client's and their family's learning needs.
  6. Students must demonstrate complete knowledge of the topic and be able to answer questions posed by the instructor and fellow students.
  7. Presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes.
  8. Submit Anything used for or during the presentation. Due the day you present by 0800.
  9. Refer to the rubric in Canvas for the grading breakdown.

You will have 1 exam throughout the semester. It will be comprehensive at the end of the semester.

ATI - 25%

You will take the 2023 A practice test in the second week of school; you only get one try and 1 minute per question (if you miss these parameters, you will complete the success plan regardless of your score). You will submit that score. If you get less than 65% on the practice assessment, you must meet with the Professor and develop a success plan. This success plan is to help you be successful. The following ATI Assessment Exams will be administered during the Semester. If you don’t complete the success plan you cannot take the 1st ATI.

You must submit a ticket for each test with a 90% score. The test can only be taken every 24 hours; you will receive a 0 on the Proctored exam if your ticket is not submitted before the test.

When students use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process for this course, students should only use these technologies to improve readability and language, or to generate a basic skeleton of ideas for assignment content. Applying these technologies
should be done with careful oversight, and students should carefully review and edit the result, as AI can generate good-sounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete or biased. SUU Policy#6.33 on academic integrity should be followed when using AI. If you are unsure to what extent to use AI as part of an assignment, please reach out to me before the assignment is due. If a student uses AI-assisted technologies, the student should disclose in their assignment the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the assignment by following the instructions below. This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, references etc. If there is nothing to disclose, there is no need to add a statement. Any assignment which has been determined by the professor (using the tools provided by SUU to monitor academic integrity) to have been created using these technologies which were not disclosed by the student is subject to failure.

Disclosure Instructions:
Students must disclose the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding this statement at the end of their assignment:
