1. Peer Teaching: Select an elementary physical education lesson to teach the class. The format and components will be discussed prior to teaching. Create a lesson plan using the outline provided. (50 pts. Lesson plan, 100 pts. teaching)
2. Peer and self-evaluation: Using the instrument provided, you will complete an evaluation of a lesson you participated in as well as a self-evaluation for the class you taught. (50 pts.)
3. Philosophy Statement: At the end of the semester, you will submit your philosophy statement as an elementary physical education teacher. (100 pts.)
4. Field experience: You will participate in six experiential learning activities at local elementary schools where you will conduct age-appropriate learning activities and teach P.E. skills, under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or the school PE specialist. You will prepare lesson plans, self-reflections, and self-evaluations of these teaching/learning activities. (50 pts. Lesson plan, 50 pts. Self-evaluation, 100 pts. Reflections)
5. Class presentation: You will present to the class on your philosophy of elementary physical education and your field experience in the elementary school. This will be a short (10 minute) presentation in which you will discuss with the class any aspect of your experience and how it contributed to your philosophy to date. This assignment is “open” for you to talk about any aspect of your experience you found impactful and that you would like to share with the class.
6. Tests: Cognitive midterm and final. (100 pts.)
