1. In-Class Activities (5 Points)
Small groups will be formed frequently, and students will be asked to report their reactions to the readings or participate in discussion questions or other virtual-based class activities.
2. Collaborative Learning: Facilitating Course Materials and Leading Class Discussion (10 points)
This is a group project based on your course readings (book chapters and articles). Over the semester and in a group of three or four, you will facilitate one week’s course readings (15-20 minutes). Using a visual format (e.g., PPT Slides, Prezi, etc.), you will briefly address the key concepts and main issues/arguments raised and your own critical analysis of the readings. You will bring at least two questions for class discussion.
3. Journal: Reflections & Course Readings: Ideas and Experiences (10 Points)
This assignment requires that you keep a journal for a week (7 days) exploring how you or those who are close to you (for example, your grandparents, parents, siblings, or friends) experience and express/perform gender and sex roles on a daily basis. You can also include images you see or even sketches and mind maps to reflect your experiences and ideas. You may divide the weekdays to keep the log. More detailed instructions for this assignment will be provided in class.
4. Three Exams (75 Points)
There will be three exams, consisting of multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions. Please review the exam dates in your course outline (page #4). Exam #3 will be on Monday, April 20th, 11:00 am-12:50 pm.
