REQUIRED SUPPLIES:  Scientific (or graphing) calculators will be used throughout this class. Make sure you have one and you use the same one on all of your Math 930/1030 assignments and tests.

Learning Outcomes

In this class students will review, learn, and improve their skills in problem solving and basic pre-algebra skills to help them be prepared for the units in Math 1030.  We will also review and practice what students are currently learning in Math 1030 and answer questions as needed.

Course Requirements

GRADING POLICY: You will be graded completion of videos, quizzes, and assignments.  To pass you must complete the work on time at a minimum of 80%.  This means that you probably can NOT miss more than approximately 4 assignments, or you will not pass.

Your grade is based on the following two categories:

·     Class Activities 70% - These are the activities that we will complete, or mostly complete in class each time we meet.  They are due by midnight that day. You need to be in class to get the activity and get full credit.

·      Exit Quizzes 30% - These will be completed after class.  You will usually note if you were in class or not, as well as answer some questions about the things you learned that day.

You do NOT receive a letter grade or college credit for this class, but for the purposes of financial aid, grants, and other requirements, it is counted as a 2-credit class.  You will receive a Pass/Fail/UW grade for this class: If your grade is 80% or higher you will Pass, and this will be noted on your transcript, but will not figure into your GPA.

WARNING: Math 930 is a privilege, and you have one shot! If you complete 930, but do NOT pass Math 1030 this semester, you will need to take Math 0970 or Math 0990 to retake Math 1030. You will not be allowed to take 930 again, whether you pass 930 or not.
