• Gain proficiency in the analysis and interpretation of two and three-dimensional images of the human body from various planes of view. 🖥️📐 Skills include regional and structural identification, comparison, and interpretation using prosected cadavers and cross-sectional images/models. 🫁🔬
• Be able to interpret variable or anomalous structural patterns. 🧬⚡ Since these patterns are quite common, analytical skills must include an awareness of the degree of variation in human morphology and its relevance to understanding human structure and function. 🔎📊

Working with human donors in gross anatomy is a pivotal, formative milestone. SUU is conducting an IRB-approved study evaluating student emotional growth, empathy, and resilience throughout the semester:

• Lab 1 – Foundations of Human Anatomy: Anatomical position, directional terminology, anatomical planes, body cavities, and surface markings. 🧭
• Lab 2 – Histology and the Integumentary System: Microscopic identification of primary tissue types (epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous) and the structural layers of the skin, hair follicles, and cutaneous glands. 🧬🛡️
• Lab 3 – Bones of the Axial Skeleton: Identification of cranial and facial bones, sutures, skull markings/foramina, vertebrae (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum, coccyx), ribs, and sternum. 💀
