PARTICIPATION: There are three types of participation activities.
a) Syllabus Quiz:It is important for students to understand course assignments, schedules, and policies, so there is a syllabus quiz in Module 1 or Quizzes of the Canvas page for this course.
b) Data Collection:This class uses data collection and analysis activities that allow students to “do” geography. While there are 7 activities, ONLY the best 5 grades count toward a student’s final grade.
ON-LINE QUIZZES: The on-line quizzes promote learning of course material. The quizzes are open-book format, and normally they each cover 1 chapter. Quizzes have no time limit and students have three attempts with the highest score being recorded. While there are 11 quizzes, ONLY the best 10 grades count toward a student’s final grade (i.e., the lowest grade, even a zero, will be dropped).
ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are designed to allow students to “do” geography by investigating course topics using geographic tools and reasoning. While there are 5 assignments, ONLY the best 4 grades count toward a student’s final grade (i.e., the lowest grade, even a zero, will be dropped).
FINAL EXAM: The test is closed-book format and will be written during scheduled exam time. Part A (5 points) includes 30 multiple-choice questions chosen from the clicker questions. Part B (15%) includes short-answer questions chosen from the Study Guide, which is available on Canvas.
