Late Policy
All coursework will have a 24-hour grace period for turning in with no penalty. In other words, you will be given full credit for coursework submitted during the grace period.
Late coursework will not be accepted. Due to the nature of this course, each piece of this course builds upon the next. Accepting late coursework would mean that you are not given the same quality feedback to prepare for the next submission. The only exception is the most dire and serious of circumstances (e.g. the death of an immediate family member). Computer glitches, problems with Canvas, forgetting, vacations, etc. are not valid excuses. Please make sure to submit your assignments well in advance of this final cut-off period. It is essential that you check that you have submitted the correct file and that file has uploaded correctly when you submit your assignments. If you do not, they will not be accepted after the final cutoff date and time.
Use of AI
All assignments must be fully prepared by you, the student. Developing strong competencies in the skills associated with this course will prepare you for success in this program and your future career. Therefore, I assume that any work submitted for a grade is your own original creation.
Under this policy, the following constitute violations of academic integrity:
- Having another person or entity complete any portion of a graded assignment for you (including purchasing work or hiring a person or company).
- Using generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grammarly, etc.) to draft, rewrite, or alter your content.
Permissible Use of AI for Proofreading
You may use AI or automated spelling and grammar tools (e.g., Microsoft Editor, Grammarly) strictly to identify spelling, punctuation, and mechanical grammar errors. However:
- Automatically accepting or blindly applying AI-generated rewrites or suggestions is an academic integrity violation.
- You are required to review any feedback provided by the tool, evaluate the feedback, and manually make the corrections yourself. The goal is for you to actively engage with the editing process, think critically about your writing, and learn from your mistakes.
Key Rule: If AI writes, rewrites, or directly alters your text, it is a violation of university policy. Misrepresenting work as your own when it was generated or rewritten by AI will result in a zero for that assignment.
Setting yourself up for success means taking ownership of your writing. Reviewing feedback and making your own edits will ultimately make you a stronger, more confident communicator.
