Ensemble Listening & Balance: Listen critically to adapt volume, tone, timing, and texture in real time relative to other ensemble members.
Collaborative Functionality: Execute their instrument's functional role within the rhythm section or arrangement to serve the overall song structure.
Technical & Stylistic Mastery: Perform with accurate technique, secure timing, and genre-authentic expression across popular music styles.
Professional Accountability: Demonstrate rigorous individual rehearsal prep, punctual attendance, and a constructive, high-expectation collaborative standard.

Course Requirements

  • Rehearsals

Students are expected to arrive at every rehearsal fully prepared, with all assigned repertoire individual mastered. Rehearsals are reserved for ensemble blending, artistic refinement, and structural shaping—not individual note-learning or sight-reading.

Consistently arriving unprepared undermines the ensemble's progress. A pattern of inadequate preparation directly impacts the final course grade and may lead to a loss of performance privileges.
