Description:

The Information Security Office is seeking a motivated individual to assist in activities to protect the university from cyber threats. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-grade security tools in the cyber security industry.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze security alerts and respond to emerging cyber threats.
  • Monitor network traffic and various logs to identify anomalies.
  • Evaluate, implement, and test open-source security tools as well as utilize enterprise security tools to improve current processes.
  • Assist in reviewing security training and newsletter content for the campus community as well as respond to stakeholders about security concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience installing/managing Windows or Linux servers.
  • Working knowledge of protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
  • Proven ability to collaborate and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated to research new technologies to improve SUU’s security posture.
  • Completed application including Resume, Cover Letter, and Class Schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Basic knowledge of offensive security/penetration testing or defensive security strategies.
  • Experience with Docker or containerization.
  • Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, or similar.
